Cenaero involved in the FP7 project FIPS, aimed at building and demonstrating new hybrid energy-efficient supercomputers based on alternative computing architectures (FPGA, GPU, ...)

The recent EU-sponsored FiPS project (Developing Hardware and Design Methodologies for Heterogeneous Low Power Field Programmable Servers) is designing a new class of heterogeneous supercomputers based on energy-efficient
alternative processing resources like the ones found, for example, in today’s low-power mobile devices FiPS aims to significantly increase energy-efficiency through a smart combination of alternative processors such as ARM smartphone processors, 3D graphics chips, re-configurable FPGA hardware, or even many-core architectures.
