proud to announce that our industrial pilot project proposal
"noFUDGE" has been accepted by PRACE, allowing the use of 2Mio
CPU hours on the BlueGene/P machine JUGENE at Forschungszentrum Juelich.
"noFUDGE" will start on 2nd May 2011 for a total period of 6 months. The first goal is the benchmarking of high-order discontinuous Galerkin methods for the direct numerical simulation of wall-bounded transitional flows. Thereto the flow around the SD7003 airfoil at Re=60.000, and a low pressure turbine cascade at Re=80.000, representative for industrial geometry, will be computed. The first test case is one of the complex benchmarks (C3.3) from the 1st International Workshop on high order CFD methods, which will be held during the 50th AIAA Aerospace Meeting in 2012, and moreover, comparable to the case computed during the DEISA Extreme Computing Initiative project "CoBaULD". The second aim of "noFUDGE" is the testing and the extension of the scalability to approximately 16.000 processors on the BlueGene/P architecture.
