Cenaero is proud to actively support the “Project Eco Marathon” from the Aero-Thermo-Mechanical Department of ULB (Université Libre of Brussels), which resulted in an eco-friendly car, named “BLUe”. The “BLUe” car will compete in the European part of the Shell Eco Marathon in 2011, as it did in 2001 for the first time . This Marathon, which takes place in Americas, Europe and Asia, is aimed at prototypes and urban concept cars, which are designed by both secondary/technical schools and universities/technical colleges. This year, the European Marathon will be held at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz Racing Circuit in Germany from May 26 till May 28, 2011. The aim of the race is to ride the longest distance with an energy equivalent to 1 liter of petrol. The “BLUe” car was granted the 2nd position in 2010 and is now willing to take up the challenge of winning the European trophy in 2011. Made of an in-wheel engine and Lithium batteries, this car is really competitive due to a lower total mass of its components and reached a distance of no less than 1200 km in October 2010.
Good luck… and best wishes to the “BLUe” car !
If you wish to see the “BLUe” car, please visit the Car Show in Brussels from 15 till 23 January, 2011 where it will officially be presented to the public. For further information, please contact Patrick Hendrick (Patrick.Hendrick AT ulb.ac.be).
